Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch Wedding

Micaela and Matt were married at the beautiful Historic Seven Sycamores Ranch on a rainy SoCal day! I had been watching the weather the days leading up to their wedding and, after seeing the forecast of essentially 100% rain, I knew I had to bring my A-game to help make the day as smooth as possible! Luckily, the rain held off better than I could have hoped for and we were able to get all of our natural light photos before heading into their reception. It had the coziest ambiance with the warm wood walls, twinkle lights, and pitter-pattering of rain!

Some of my favorite moments of the day include Matt getting alllll choked up when he saw Micaela for the first time in her dress (he said he never gets emotional!), hearing Micaela’s vows that included a little bit of humor and a whole lot of love, and photographing the bridesmaids with the cute clear umbrellas she had gotten to stave off the rain!

A few rainy day tips if you find out it might happen on your wedding day:

1. You HAVE to be flexible with your timeline. We need to take advantage of every second of no or little rain, so that means I might recommend moving things around. With Micaela’s wedding, I decided to push bridal photos to before the ceremony since the forecast was getting gloomier as the minutes ticked by! We were able to get a few post-ceremony bridal photo pictures as well, but needed to use umbrellas and had to move fast!

2. Your dress will get a little wet and dirty! That is FINE! I promise that every brides dress gets dirty on her wedding day, especially on the train. It doesn’t show up in pictures and no one even notices, so don’t let yourself worry about it!

3. I know this is hard, but do not let bad weather take away the joy you have on your wedding day! You have put so much time, money, and energy into planning things and the weather is something you just can’t control. YOU are in control of your emotions and, ultimately, you will decided what kind of day you’ll have. If you have rain and decide to dwell on it instead of concentrating on the love of your friends and family and PARTYING, you will regret it! I loved watching Micaela let loose on the dance floor (her dance floor was LIT haha) and having the best time.

4. If it does end up pouring on your wedding day and we aren’t able to get as many bride and groom portraits with natural light because of it, I will schedule a post-wedding photo shoot with you guys ON ME. Because every girl deserves some sunshine in her photos! We will set another date, have you get your hair and makeup done (if you want!), and go to an epic location so we can get more photos of the two of you! It will be low stress compared to a wedding day and a ton of fun ❤️.

Enjoy some of my favorite photos from their day!
