Where do I even begin with Lucas and Vivy’s Maravilla Gardens wedding? They are a total dream couple and I feel so lucky that they chose me to capture their big day! Individually, they both are amazing, but together they are a powerhouse couple that build each other AND everyone around them up. It was super evident to me that they are BEYOND loved by their friends and family and the entire day was just one big happy celebration! Exactly the kind of wedding that makes me fall in love even more with my job :).
Here’s a little bit of their love story from the bride herself!
“Luke and I met each other literally at the moment when we both expected it least; we met during our first week of medical school. We had just moved there from opposite sides of the world. I moved all the way from my home in California and Luke from London, where he was completing his master’s degree. We both knew we would study hard in medical school. My intention was to leave by the end of four years with some good memories and maybe a few more friends. Never did I think that I would also leave with my best friend for life.
What I love is that together nothing feels unsurmountable. Life has truly been one crazy journey since we met. During medical school, we traveled all around the world swimming through caves in Mexico, snowmobiling on glaciers in Iceland, and getting lost in vineyards in Tuscany. We then packed our bags into a car and drove from New York to California which is where we now call home.
We wanted our wedding to be outside in the open to watch the sunset as we danced the night away. It was also so important for us to incorporate both of our cultures into our big day. In the morning we had a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony where our parents were able to give their marriage advice to us. We wanted to update this by keeping this ceremony intimate and outdoors in front of the Camarillo mountains. In the evening, we made sure to dance the hora and have amazing gelato to speak to Luke’s Jewish and Italian roots. These were our favorite elements of our day. Christine was with us every step of the day! We were so lucky to have her as our photographer to capture every tear and every smile that we couldn’t appreciate on that big day.”
Enjoy a few of my favorite photos from their big day!
