Sometimes, I meet a bride for the first time and instant sparks fly. I’m laughing as I type this because it sounds like I’M the one who married Ashley when in reality, I just fell in platonic love with her and Bruce because they are SUCH an amazing couple! Their Omni La Costa Resort and Spa Wedding was my first one of 2020 and WOW! What a way to start off a brand new decade. Not only did I have the best time with capturing all of the amazing moments, but I also adored their entire bridal party and immediate family members SO much. Talk about the best group of people! The photos you see in this blog post are some of the ones I am most proud of EVER. The emotion, lighting, backdrop, everything! Obsessed would be an understatement!
Here’s a little from the bride herself!
How we met:
Bruce and I went to the same high school, but never actually met there. One day after school I went to go pick up a friend’s little sister from soccer practice at a nearby park and bumped into Bruce! I felt an instant connection to him that was indescribable and now here we are!
What we like to do:
Bruce and I are major homebodies. We love to stay at home, cook together & get cozy! We also love traveling together, snowboarding (even though I am the worst at it) & trying out new Thai food spots!
It was Christmas Eve and we had a family dinner later that day, but Bruce asked to take me beforehand for a margarita and walk around one of our favorite spots- La Jolla Cove. I didn’t think much of it, because this was a spot we used to go to a lot back when we first were dating. We were out by the bluff and he stopped and asked someone to take a photo of us. He NEVER has done this in our 5+ years dating and so I thought it was a little odd. She handed the phone back and Bruce said the lighting was bad and that he wanted a few more photos and asked her to take more and that is when I KNEW. He immediately dropped on a knee and it was the most amazing, surreal and sweet moment ever. After the proposal, we ended up getting to meet 25+ people from my extended family for dinner and it was the most special night of celebration!
We wanted a timeless, romantic and clean look at our wedding. Our venue was a much more colorful venue then I had pictured myself getting married at and so I kept everything very neutral with lots of white and greenery, with lots of gold accents. This really allowed the beauty of the venue to shine through without it being too much. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined.
My favorite parts of the wedding day:
My favorite moment was the one moment I was most nervous about, walking down the aisle. I can’t stand being the center of attention and so I was very nervous leading up to this moment. I will never forget the couple minutes I had alone with my dad before walking down as he tried to help calm my nerves, such a short, but a sweet moment. The minute I began to walk down the aisle and locked eyes with Bruce, every ounce of nervousness disappeared and I was filled with nothing but joy. It was by far the best couple of minutes of my life.
Enjoy a few of my favorite pictures from that day!
